1967 Chevrolet Camaro1967 Chevrolet Genuine SS Camaro Coupe

The last time this car turned a wheel in anger was in 1987. Fast forward twenty five years when it became the subject of one of the most intensive restorations you could imagine.

The car was stripped of every nut & bolt, the body taken back to bare metal and then given over 800 hours of attention from the most skilled craftsmen this country has to offer. The engine, manual gearbox and rear axle are all the original numbers matching parts this car left the factory with, the body has the matching numbers stamped in the correct three locations, the front clip has the same number stamped in it.

The engine has done a remarkable documented 37,000 miles from new. We completely stripped the motor down to find almost no wear, it was freshened it up with a 30 thou cylinder bore, new pistons and a twenty thou crank grind, we then balanced the entire rotating assembly. It would have been very easy & a lot cheaper to bolt a pair of Aluminium heads to the engine, however we wanted to keep it original, so we gave the heads the same kind of attention the rest of the block received.

Finally it was treated to a new inlet manifold and carburettor as well as all ancillaries. The gearbox is the original Muncie four speed, with the rare original ‘Muncie’ stamped shifter arm. The rear axle has the factory Posi traction differential, the casing has all the correct date stamp numbers which correspond to the Eaton factory in which it was produced. All the numbers on the vehicle are photographed and documented.

The front clip was completely dismantled, sand blasted and then painted before being re-assembled with new bearings, joints & rubbers. The original four pot disc brake callipers were machined and re-sleeved in Stainless Steel and assembled with a new seal kit. Front and rear light assemblies were replaced with new, as was the entire wiring loom and fuse panel.

The interior of this car is what really separates it from any other Camaro, it was completely restored back to the original Gold it had when it rolled out of the factory. We love it, there is no denying that it is pure 1960’s bling!

It’s not a Smokey Yunick clone but we borrowed his infamous livery  which we think is the greatest colour combination for a Camaro, Gold & Black. The bodywork was primed & blocked until the panels were arrow straight, Chevrolet Gold was then applied to the top half of the car, the side panels & rear tail panel were then coated in a mile deep black, and finally a red pinstripe was applied dividing the two. We then sealed the entire car in numerous coats of clear lacquer and finally applied the new badges. Finally we bolted on new Rocket Five spoke 17” rims and tyres which finish the car off beautifully.

The list of new parts in this car is almost endless, the effort put in was certainly a labour of love, we believe that this is now one of the finest examples of a 1967 SS Camaro that you will ever find.
